We woke early in Salzburg and ate a quick breakfast before departing on a walking tour of Old Salzburg. We met our local guide and started the tour at Leopoldskron Castle on Leopoldskron Lake. Those familiar with the Sound of Music will recognize this lake and castle as well as many other areas of Salzburg that we visited. We walked among the buildings and through the Residenzplatz, winding our way through St. Peter’s Graveyard. We concluded our walking tour at Mirabell Gardens where we caught the bus to Eagles Nest. We ate lunch at the base of the Eagle’s Nest before ascending to the top where we were in awe with the spectacular views. We headed back down to Berchtesgaden where we took a boat tour to St. Bartholomew on Konigsee. The day was getting long so we headed back to Salzburg for the night. That evening we enjoyed Doner Kebabs at a local Turkish carryout. We ended day 7 walking along the Salzach River.
