There
is always that fine line that exist, that fine line that demarks
on one side, dedication, excitement, enthusiasm, and the other
side, stupidity, lack of common sense, and not knowing any
better. I will let the audience determine which side of this
fine line we were on this February day.
Toni and I packed the Highlander with some rockets and headed to
Price, Maryland to fly some rockets at the winter field. The
flying season at Higgs Farm has been dismal this winter season
due to field availability and bad weather. This day was no
different. We arrived to a blustery snow covered field with a
balmy temperture of 9 degrees. The sun had better common sense
and was nowhere to be found. Toni and I kept our rockets packed
in the Highlander. There were only three rocketeers brave
enough, or maybe desperate enough to fly. By 11:00 PM additional
snow and freezing rain pelted better sense into us and we called
the launch. It was a long trip back home in the freezing rain
but we made it safely. Let’s hope for better flying weather next
month. Until the next launch . . .
